The City of Italy is located at the junction of U.S. Highway 77 and State Highway 34, just off Interstate 35E, approximately 15 miles south of Waxahachie and 20 miles north of Hillsboro, in Ellis County, Texas.
We are situated in the very heart of Texas - 25 minutes south of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex - on I-35E, an integral portion of the north/south corridor of the Mexico-to-Canada freight route initiated by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1992.
U.S. Highway 287 (north of the City) connects neighboring cities-Midlothian, Mansfield, and Fort Worth to the west; Ennis and Corsicana to the east. U.S. Highway 287 also intersects with I-45 (which runs from Oklahoma to the Texas Gulf Coast), and then accesses neighboring Navarro County to the south and onward to the Texas Coast. U.S. Highway 360 runs south from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport to U.S. Highway 287.
With these major artery advantages, the area continues to gain momentum for commercial, business, tourist, commuter and shopping interests.
